MEET DIANA

Hello and welcome! I'm Diana Mulder, an artist based in sunny Southern California, and I've been passionate about creativity since I was a child.

Ever since I could hold a crayon, I've been creating art. Growing up, creativity was my favorite form of play and self-expression. Today, I feel lucky to call Southern California my home—an area brimming with natural beauty and inspiration. And even now, I still feel that same childlike excitement whenever I pick up a paintbrush to start a new piece.

I paint mostly in acrylic, using a modern impressionistic style to bring my ideas to life. This means I often use bold, playful brushstrokes and layers of color to capture the feeling of a scene rather than every tiny detail. I'm especially drawn to strong, colorful contrasts that make a painting pop and catch your eye. Whether it's the golden light of a late afternoon or the deep blues of twilight, I love exploring how colors can dance together on the canvas.

I find inspiration in so many places and subjects. Living in Southern California, I'm surrounded by diverse landscapes—from serene beaches to rolling hills—and they frequently find their way into my paintings. I also love painting florals bursting with life, animals with personality and spirit, and the human figure in quiet, candid moments. Each subject, whether it's a blooming rose or a bustling street scene, offers a new story to tell with paint.

Almost all of my pieces are one-of-a-kind originals, created with love and care. For those who connect with a piece that has already found a home, I offer a handful of prints of some favorites. I like to hand-enhance many of these prints with touches of paint, giving each one a bit of unique texture and a personal touch from me. That way, even a print can feel a bit like an original, with its own individual character.

I'm honored that my work has received some recognition over the years. In 2023, and again in 2024, I was awarded "Best in Show" at the Tustin Art League. Those awards, along with other honors from past exhibitions, mean so much to me. They encourage me to keep pushing my creative boundaries and sharing my passion with others.

Thank you for taking the time to get to know me and my art! If you'd like to bring one of my pieces into your home, you're in the right place—my original paintings are available for purchase here on my website.
